So I’m cleaning up all my accumulated crud. Being a Cancerian, I am irrationally sentimental for the most trivial of objects. I’m trying to be brutal, to purge. In my search I found a box of goodies which contains my keepsakes that go back to when I was a wee lad. One struck my eye. A ticket.
Now, I save every single ticket for every single concert or event I’ve ever been to. I have no idea why but its pretty cool to go back through them. This one in particular represents one of my favourite nights as a younger man. The “Kind 2” rave.
To me, and my friends (most of which were there), this party was the epitome of of the ’90s rave scene and what it was meant to be.
Though it was many, many years ago, I do recall that it was held at the Masonic Temple at Yonge and Church streets, which is now the MTV building I believe. Within were several rooms of music, all decked out with crazy decorations and included such crazy features as interpretive dancers, laser light shows, and DJ SOS done up like a day-glow military man from a post-apocyliptic nuclear wasteland. Fantastic.
If I went to one rave, I’m sure glad this is the one.
