So, just looking around the news and found the ROM (The Royal Ontario Museum) has got itself a new logo! Great … erm… I think. Here it is:
Is anyone else underwhelmed? A shell and a clear violation of good typography? Oh well. Can’t have everything. I would have much preferred they spent the dough on a good exhibit.
Well ok, its not as big an eyesore as that diamond-shaped piece of shit they shoved in back of the building. I’m all for juxtaposition but really – it looks like hell. A museum doesn’t need to be stuffy, but should radiate an air of classicism in my humble opinion.
I love museums but the last time I was at the ROM I felt seriously bored to tears. I believe this is because they aren’t funded quite as well as some others. This is indeed a crying shame. On the other hand, stop buying ugly-ass diamond additions and paying graphic designers thousands to make a logo that make me go “meh”.
Get some good exhibits (preferably not about Egypt) and I’ll be there.
Just my two cents.
